Tammi (Powlen) Beck is an American graphic designer, illustrator, author and founder of True Pure Brave Art. Born and raised in Central Indiana, she was graduated from Anderson University with a graphic design degree and studies in sculpture, illustration, drawing, printmaking, photography and glass blowing.

The majority of Beck’s career was spent in the non-profit sector where she created award-winning logos, style and collateral for the NCAA including the NCAA Men’s Final Four logos and NCAA Leadership Program materials, and Kiwanis International, where she designed award-winning campaigns.

In addition, Beck has worked as a background actress in numerous TV dramas and sitcoms including Law & Order: SVU, Gossip Girl, Blue Bloods and Blacklist,  and studied at the International Center of Photography in New York City where she created bodies of work about sight.

Currently, she has returned to her first love – illustration, which has fascinated her since she was five years old and making covers for her preschool’s program guides.  Beck founded True Pure Brave Art which not only sells her pen and watercolor illustrations, but leads art programs for children and is creating a series of children’s books conceptualized and illustrated by her. She also illustrated children’s book Grit, Not Grits. An active member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers, her books are dedicated to teaching children character through art.

Tammi enjoys spending time with her family, which is her greatest treasure. Her hobbies include drawing, painting, hiking and dancing with her daughters. Her cat, Oliver, keeps her busy as he wreaks havoc on their Christmas trees and house, and constantly escapes to hide under their neighbor’s porch.

In a career and a life that has accumulated many accomplishments, Beck says nothing compares to the grace, love and strength God has granted her throughout her life. She encourages everyone to “bravely live a life true to how you were created and bravely be pure and kind in your thoughts. Find your legacy in life ... Be true. Be pure. Be brave. And always ... always remember you are a perfect creation.”

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good works in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 1:6
